Ok so I am fully admitting I am a follower. A few people here and there were telling me about the Elf on the Shelf. I didn't get it. Saw the ugly elf at Target the other day and the price and said "no way"

......until today!! Got my Personal Shopper Leslie to pick me up one... yep I caved!!

Too many fb friends posting fun pics of their elf -- had to join in the fun.

Can't even tell you how excited I am to meet my elf tonight.

Hopefully Java will post her picture of her elf from last night. It was the picture that sealed my fate and convinced me to be a follower

We are not doing it, but several of my friends are.

The other day my friend bought toilet paper in bulk and 'forgot' to put it away. The Elf TP'd her dining room. There was TP hanging from the chandelier and off the dining room chairs. Then several of the rolls were stacked on the table in the shape of a Christmas tree and there was a string of lights wound around it. It was so cute. ^_^

Price is bad....Leslie paid $30 US at Target for mine. It comes in a box with a keepsake book explaining the elf and the story.

What is elf on the shelf? I don't celebrate the holidays, but I'm curious as to what it is.

each family's scout elf watches over the children and then at night, once everyone goes to bed, the elf flies back to the North Pole to report back to Santa about what activities, good and bad, took place throughout the day. Before the family wakes up each morning, the scout elf flies back from the North Pole and hides. By hiding in a new spot each morning around the house, the scout elf and the family play an on-going game of hide and seek. The Elf on the Shelf explains that elves get their magic by being named. In the back of each book, families have an opportunity to write their elf's name and the date that they adopted it. Once the elf is named, the scout elf receives its special Christmas magic which allows it to fly to and from the North Pole. However, the magic might go if touched, so the rule for The Elf on the Shelf states: "There's only one rule that you have to follow so I will come back and be here tomorrow: Please do not touch me. My magic might go, and Santa won't hear all I've seen or I know." Although families aren't supposed to touch their scout elf, they can talk to it and tell it all their Christmas wishes so it can report back to Santa accurately

We did....$40 for a month of good behavior.....well worth it! Lol. Actually my girls were really acting up one day...I am talking a lot! So we didn't move our Elf....they were kind of upset and worried that next morning. We told them that he probably didn't want to go back to Santa and tell him how bad they were acting so he stayed here....it was probably a "warning" from him. Worked like magic....they were so good that day and since....in fact, when one starts reAlly acting up, the ore one will remind her that our elf is watching and we want him to report good things to Santa! Lol

I think it is fun....and I think when they are even teens, it will be a fun tradition....who can think of e craziest thing!

Glad you jumped in Terbear!

Loving where everyone is finding their elf! Today ``Mario`` was found in one of my craft drawers. Must be taking more than one day to make his craft as nothing was left out. Should be interesting to see what he makes on another day!

I love that the kids would "listen" and behave- but this completely would freak me out if i were a kid- an elf is in my house watching- then everynight he goes to report back to santa while i am asleep- and then is moving around the house. lol
My neice and nephew LOVE it- i really should become a follower too!

Who really TPd her dining room? this kinda scares me lol. so its really the parents doing stuff right?

I think that elf needs to report back to Santa that he is a very naughty elf..like Java's elf. So far "Max" at our house is an ok elf...sorta..

actually the first day, my 6 year old was freaked out...she was kind of scared to go to bed as she didn't trust this elf. We talked a lot, she understood that he was Santa's friend and by morning, it was all good...but you are right...it could be a touchy subject! lol
