In the summer I bought this cute little black cocktail dress, in a medium, in hopes of it fitting for NYE. Our plans for this evening were decided upon last minute (like 2 days ago) and we are now going to the IMAX theatre, Pizzapopolis in Greek Town, a few drinks at the bar there, and then home to ring in the new year and celebrate one of the guys birthdays at the home of one of our friends. When I asked the only other girl of the group what she was wearing she said jeans and a sweater but that I could wear whatever I wanted, you get away with that on NYE, however Im worried I'm going to look like an idiot showing up all decked out for a movie and pizza LOL What do I wear?!? I never had a problem with this when I was fat :p

throw a change of clothes in the car and change when you get to your friend's house.

I wouldn't go cocktail for the evening you described. Do you have a more casual dress you can wear instead perhaps? Something you can feel pretty in, yet not over the top? I guess it depends on your idea of 'cocktail' though. If it is a LBD then you may be able to dress it up or down. But cocktail to me is a fancy dress requiring high heels

I'd go casual. Wear a nice sweater or cardigan and jeans or slacks. You look great in the dress but it looks kind of dressy for the night you described.

fat or skinny, I definitely would wear casual.

Last year we went to the Keg for NYE with another couple, we of course all dressed up (chubbiness and all, lol), b/c it was NYE and everyone was dressed up.

But the show, that is as casual as you can get, lol

Maybe youy could get away with the dress at Greektown casino, since it is nYE, but I would bring jeans and a sweatshirt

ONE of the main reasons I am not going anywhere for NYE is b/c I refused to buy an outfit that I will wear one time, so I will be home with my hubby and the kids for the first time ever on NYE and I will be jamming in the New Year with jogging pants or jammies.

Have a good time no matter what you wear. :)

I lean towards eclectic so have no issues wearing whatever I want, regardless of situation, unless it is an occasion for husband's work. When it is an occasion for his work I tend to be more conservative because it reflects on him. In a situation like you described I would probably wear the dress with fishnet tights, stilettos and a jean jacket. :p

First off you look absolutely gorgeous in that dress and I'm wicked jealous! I say jeans and a dressy top and save the stunning dress for a fancy night out with the hubby. You want to be comfortable and have fun on New Years without worrying if you are over dressed. Whatever you chose to wear, you'll look great :)

Well I wouldn't wear a dress to a get together that you described. Could you stop back at home and change.

You could also go wearing your dress if you don't want to go and change. After all if I was hosting a drop in I would want people to come as they are from where ever you are coming from. So if your dressed up then come dressed up.

But as for wwyd...I would go and change as I wouldn't want to feel overdressed...kwim?

Cute dress btw!

I have a black tank with sequins and a little shrug type sweater thing I think I'll wear instead. I thought it was too dressy for a simple night out. I just don't know where I'm ever gonna wear the dress LOL

Also, Tammy, I didn't mean to offend - just that when I weighed 100lbs more it didn't matter what I put on, I hated it. So I always just wore jeans and a hoodie no matter where I was going.

OMG

You didn't offend, lol. I can lose weight IF I choose to, I can have the surgery if I choose to,and will go back to after this baby is born :) I would never consider the surgery, so no ofeence taken at all. I was just saying that I wear dressy clothes (with chubbiness and all) :)

I am happy with what/who I am, I feel comfortable with what and who I am, I love myself for me, always have and always will. :)

Again, have a great time and let us know what you did wear. :)

The dress is very nice, I just think it's too dressy for a show (my opinion).

you look great and I see an adorable little photo bomb there... lol
The sequin top you described sounds a bit better, maybe plan a night out to the casino and you could wear the dress then? maybe we'll do a dress up girls night out to celebrate your success! thought I don't really have anything to dress up in lol
anyways, hope you have a great night :)

Love the outfit you ended up wearing. BTW you look fantastic! Are you going to A's Baptism? I would save the dress for then...also, it will be a great date night dress!
