My DS sandbox is like a party place for spiders and other bugs. Is there anything I can keep them out naturally ie. natural bug spray.

Ant's don't like Pepper. I've been told to put that in the soil if I'm having insect problems in my garden.

Hmmm, I know some natural remedies for getting rid of bugs in your house, but I don't know if there is a way to keep them out of the sandbox. I used to have two sandboxes in the backyard and spiders and other creepy crawlies got into them, but ds likes creepy crawlies, so he had fun finding them in the sandbox and playing with them and picking them out. Most of the time though we found dead ones because both sandboxes I had were plastic with covers, so I think the bugs got cooked inside usually.

Maybe vinegar?

How would she use that in a sandbox though? Put it in spray bottle and spray on the surface of the sand or maybe buy a jug of it and pour it in and then mix it up? It's a good idea though, and cheap to try out.

I was thinking just pour a jug or two over the sand, mix it up, let it air out, then maybe repeat if needed?

In my research on chickens I am coming across lot of people who say Diatomaceous Earth keeps away bugs. You can get it in food grade too so, no issues!

HERE is a web site to order it. I haven't yet looked to see if it is available anywhere around here. I will be looking next time I'm in Essex at TSC and Essex Feed though since it is getting more popular for use in livestock.

Some good tips, though I'd pass on the insecticide. I might give the cinnamon a try this summer.
