The yellow ones are "Colombian Rock Cross" The brown ones are "Rhode Island Red". The 2 black ones together on the right are both "Black Sex Linked" (males are coloured differently) and the other 4, lighter black ones are "Plymouth Barred Rock" (one is hiding on the feeder)

so will you get to eat them when they get all big? LOL
They are laying hens. So as long as they keep up their egg production they are safe from the soup pot LOL. But, yes, eventually they will be food. Chickens tend to lay best from around age 1 to age 3 or so. I will cull any who drop in production early, as well as any who are not people friendly. I hope to get a rooster next year and hatch some eggs for replacements of the ones I have to cull. Then I'll have the issue of what to do with the roo after a year and any roos that are produced. I'm pretty sure they will be roasting/stew material. All the breeds I got are considered "dual purpose" so they should still be yummy lol.
