Stevie Rae’s South Western Drive-In Theater on Richardson Side Road in Tilbury (Chatham-Kent) — just steps from where Essex County ends — is set to open this Friday July 20th.

The drive-in features space for 178 vehicle positioned in front of a giant 60×40 movie screen. Unlike the drive-ins of old, there will be no need to hang speakers on your car windows to hear sound. The new drive-in will feature a way to hear the movie’s sound transmitted through your vehicle’s on an FM radio frequency.

Stevie Rae’s also will have plenty of space for lawn chair seating with nearby outdoor speakers.

Construction crews were putting finishing touches on the property — including installing the screen — over the weekend.

Gates open at 6pm with with a double feature of Dark Shadows and The Dark Night Rises starting at dusk.

Wow expensive. We went to the drive in Cape Breton, it was $9.99 for the carload. It was cheapy Tuesday. But the car price was $16.99 regular. Taxes in.

I remember Windsor drive ins were expensive too. That is why they closed.
